Leading up to Saturday the team talked about improving from previous weeks and the value/identity of the Spotswood United Jersey with it being old timers day being Saturday. The team’s leadership talked about the players that played before them and the players still to play in the jersey and how they needed to use it for motivation this Saturday.

The lads in the first half started with some big hard-hitting defence and some great ticker, The forwards started to get some dominance so the backs good piece together some great team moves which lead to two converted tries and a penalty. Going into the break 17-5 up

Stratford-Eltham came out in the second half trying to spend the game up, The Spotty lads put in another good 10minutes of solid and heavy hitting defence but Stratford-Eltham eventually wearing the lads down. Stratford-Eltham cleared their bench with fresh players and pieced together a couple of tries towards the end of the end of the game for them to win 29-20

The Spotty lads can hold their heads high as they played the best 60mins of the season and dug deep to keep the score low in the second half.

Massive thanks to the guys that sat on the bench for us after playing the Div1 game.

Another big week this week preparing for the Dan O’brien Sheild against Tukapa.
