vs Tukapa
Dan O’Brien Day vs Tukapa is always one of the toughest on our calendar, and last weekend proved just that.
PREMIERS
The continual week-to-week form improvement was evident from the kick off as the Doggies went to work, dominating the first quarter of the game. After continuing to applying pressure through defence, tactical kicks and ball security, Spotty were up early with a converted try to Sam Pau, and at the 30 minute mark produced a gift meat pie to skipper Jacob Bourke (No, it wasn’t from 65 meters out)
A close margin, 15 – 14 at the break, in favour of the blue and whites.
A penalty half way through is all that Spotswood United could muster in the second spell. A constant string of injuries continues to plague the Premier side and they have been doing it tough, even though able replacements have fronted for the bench and made great impact, this wasn’t enough and Tukapa took control in the last quarter to grab a good good win at the Chook House.
Confidence is not dented, and the boys are looking forward to this weekends game and hopefully that elusive first win of the season.
Final Score: Spotswood United 17 – Tukapa 41
DIVISION 1
Tukapa’s Div One team, that was been sitting in the bottom 4 prior, certainly came to play on Dan O’Brien day and got out to a very health lead from the get-go.
The Spotty lads again showed the form they have been building on over the last four rounds to get themselves back in the game making a tight battle at the business end.
Tukapa were too strong though and held on for a good win.
Final Score: Spotswood United 22 – Tukapa 38
COLTS
The boys came out firing again this week in the first period of the game, soaking up relentless attack by Tukapa and their heads were certainly up with a well fought lead 12 -10 at half time.
The lead kept changing many times in the second spell making it a very tense second half. However Tukapa took the final glory … just!
Tries came from dynamic forward Tapene Wilson, mid field Sione Tomu & Player of the Day, prop Fenni Sofeni. The remaining points came from the boot of Cole Lahmert.
The Colts are continuing to improve each week and are playing some really good rugby. Keep it up lads.
