It was a tough day or two leading up to Saturday’s game as we had players pulling out due to injuries and sickness, we didn’t have a team confirmed until Saturday Morning.
The first half the game was very even, Clifton had multiple chances of scoring tries but the Spotty lads dug deep and did some awesome scrambling defence. The lads defended the line as a team and showed some real ticker.
Clifton managed to score break the line in the 27th minute. The Spotty lads pulled together some good team work and an outstanding individual kick to get a 50-22 from Jack Hartly to get a lineout 5 mtrs out from the line. The forwards muscled up and after a couple of pick in goes Rikki Sofeni crashed over the line for a good team try. Unfortunately just before half time the lads let Clifton score a real easy try to finish the 1st half 14-7.
Clifton came out firing after half time and with a few of the Spotty boys playing their first game for the season and the amount of defence the lads did in the first half started to pay a toll and Clifton started running in regular tries.
Losing 52-7
Massive thanks to the guys that responded to the SOS call Saturday morning and the Div 1 players that came and sat on the bench for us and then playing at least 20mins.
