Weekend Wrap-up

The days of sun-soaked fields and needing lotion for what should be a winter sport is defiantly numbered, but it wasn't the case last weekend playing under perfect conditions.

PREMIERS vs COASTAL

Match Report: Jade/Jiddles Premier - Manager

With very limited game time as a squad, last Saturdays opening round was going to be a testing match.

The first period showed how much the team have gelled in the short time they have had together with some impressive periods on attack and unbreakable defence.

Both teams traded a try-a-piece in the first spell to go into the break with the Coastal lads just ahead at 7 – 10. Taini crashing over in the corner was the first half hilight.

Coastal started the second spell kicking well into the pockets. The have always been know for a great lineout drive and proved to be the difference with it generating a couple of tries.

Spotty had some extended periods on attack, producing the try of the match by Kusition Drauna down the right flank.

Coastal were too strong in the end grabbing the spoils 34 – 12.

Congrats to Rikki Sofeni, Holyfield Kapsin, Nacanieli Raniu and Daniel Fa’aseu for their first Premier game and receiving their club tie.

DIVISION 1 vs COASTAL

Match report by: Terry Long - Manager

Nice to finally have footie back on the calendar and Saturday was your typical pre season run around, lots of mistakes, lack of timing and conditioning.

However there was a lot to like about the game, there was plenty of entertainment for the supporters to enjoy, the boys did pretty well considering we’ve only had one real training and it’s great being involved with this fantastic band or brothers.

Big ups the players, you all know how to play rugby at this level and even though the rule makers have added a host of new rules, you adapted pretty well.

A lot of lads represented themselves and their families really well, Travel playing out of position was outstanding, Knowsie at lock playing the full 80 minutes in typical no thrills fashion, captain fantastic Treweek played his normal game and he had lots of support from guys like Matty Brears, Legend and Joachim up front and the whole backline.

Special mentioned to Alan Hartley welcome to the B’s mate, Campbell, Kale, Jack and Ezra who dropped down from the Prems squad, you were all brilliant and welcome back guys like Victor, Tuhoro, Tama and Wheels.

Nice to see the Hayward-Kingi boys running around and enjoying there footie, hopefully Chandler can join us, nothing better than seeing those men running around and having family (including new additions) watching on.

Kudos to the referee who controlled the game really well, even with a large number of on field future referees in his ear.

Looking forward to next week already.

COLTS vs COASTAL

The colts on their first outing after scratching a team together by the Stalwarts Mr Corry (thats my fathers name) and Brett Perret with the guidance of Brendan and Kate.

Late in the game were behind on the scoreboard, Juki grabbed an impossible ball to grab a meat pie. It was what was needed to spur the boys to grab a few points to scrape in 16-15.

Results over the club were awesome. Lessgoo.
