Apologies for no match reports last week, I had a week off rugby and went fishing.

Coastal Wrap-up

Division One

Another tough day in the office for our boys going down to costal, but in saying that was one hell of an improvement compared to the last time we met, last time the boys didn't  manage any points on costal and going down to them 66-0 only to turn this game around getting 17 off them and keeping them under 50 definitely a better game from the lads and they should be bloody proud of their efforts yes there were times it fell apart but there were some epic moments from them too! Including the beginning of a run away by Knowlesy which got us and the crowd excited was brilliant to see was one of many exciting moments throughout the game not all of it was dull.

Regardless what the score said or what everyone else thinks you keep those heads up high, keep pushing forward, keep striving for the very best, keep on fighting, keep backing yourselves and your team mates because we are still right behind you all! Rest, reflect and look after any niggles that where sustained, its bye week coming up which doesn’t mean you're getting a break back into it Tuesday because we still have one more game to go!

Thank you, Fenni, Alan and Ben from the premiers who came, down and supported our team by filling in a couple gaps providing their extra skill set and knowledge to the team, always greatly appreciated to have a few of the boys on board  😊

Finally big Thank you to our coaching/management team, the club and supporters for their time and commitment to the team and still backing the boys regardless of the results!

Let's get to Inglewood and tautoko the premiers in what should be a great game to watch!

Final Score: Spotswood United 15 | Coastal 52

Premiers

With a good lead up at trainings all week, and with some key players back from injury, it was a perfect day to undo the first round lost to Coast as 'the one that got away'.

The boys started well, in a game that would prove to be a niggly one for the full 80, grabbing the first three point lead in the opening minute to fly-half, Ethan Reti.

The coastal lads bounced back 4 minutes later with a five pointer to prove they hade come to play.

The rest of the first 40 turned into a territory battle with the game played prominently between both 22 lines. Coastal however dotted down for a 'coach killer' in the last minute of the half with a bit of individual brilliance from a wayward United touch finder.

3-12 at half time, the game was anyones.

Coastal made the most of the first 20 minutes of the second spell with some well worked tries to the dismay of the Spotty side who looked to be on the back foot.

With 12 minutes to play, and the game nearly beyond reach for United, a yellow card to Coastal proved the spark, firing the boys up with some long phases on attack and dominating scrums.

Tries to Aj Lemalu and Will Inglis in the last 10 showed what the United side are all about and got the crowed excited.

Falling short, but a good effort. Coastal taking the honours 34-15.

Stand outs were Jacob Bossi, who didn't stop all day, as well as Josh Perrett, Izzak Kelly & Rikki Sofeni who were awarded the teams 1, 2, 3 MVP points respectively.

Bring on the Moa's.

Jade.
