There were so many stories spun in the club rooms post game ... and a lot after too as the tipple kicked in on Old Timers day.

Awesome to see so many past faces turning up to make it a cracker day for the club. We even allowed in a few chooks into the Kennel!

Huge thank you to Mike Gibbs, Royce Kisby, Rob Mason, Steve Kade (and anyone else I know I have forgotten) and the club for contacting the old buggers to drag them along.

Due to Inglewood Division 1 defaulting during the week, there was no early game so the old timers were forced to talk amongst themselves ... Yea, there were possibly some over embellished stories over the years, but good times had by old mates. 

Thank you also to our club Patron, Dave Meuli, for visiting the Premier shed pre-kickoff for some wise words.

MATCH REPORT

It was always the battle of the battling teams on that cards. Both sides have publicly been seen as lacking players and depth for the benches so far this year.

It could not be a better fixture to treat the old boys and girls to a treat of club footy.

United did however, play their Trump cards, the with midweek inclusion of the Maple Leaves contingent flying in from Canada. Hooker Jacob Bossi, Lock/loosie/monster Izzak Kelly and outside back Noah Bain. Welcome lads!!

Game time: Even though it had drizzled a bit in the morning, Yarrows number one was pristine and all go for some open rugby.

Big ups goes again to another opposition club for helping out our front row issues, with current Stratford Eltham forward coach, and 59 Spotty game veteran, Bradley Chubb, answering the SOS call at 6am on game day. 

The opening ten was defiantly a tussle for territory and to sound each other out. The home team continued on from last weeks performance finding holes and making midfield breaks early.

Continued attach led to a deserved tip-on try to Amaani Vercoe-Aoinia from Arese's short ball, to dive in under the sticks. Reti who was 100% off the tee for the day, kicking the extras.

Spotswood United, like the previous weeks, spend the majority of the time on attack over the first period, only to have two against the play tries notched up against them.

Aj, who rant rampant again, dotted down after multiple phases with a deserved meat pie. 

Coach killer blow right on the half time whistle had the Spotty lads down 14-19 at the break.

A slow start for both sides saw a decent tussle as expected, until Inglewoods 10 grabbed 3 points. 

Kane Perret, who has the knack like Fitzy floating out on the wing, following a goose step, powered over for 5 pointer in the 62nd minute.

The game was poised. Next team to score should take the game.

73 minutes gone, after turnover ball, loosie Arese Poloki from a fine short ball to get outside then defenders, to go 50+ meters for the play of the day. After Reti added the extras it was all about winding the clock down for the win.

From the kick off, the United side played safe footy, securing ball and winding the clock down. Job should have been done.

two minutes to play, United on the attack at halfway gave away a telling penalty, and a quick tap restart from ex Spotswood player, Josh Jacomb found space in on the outside, and a miracle ball over the head lead to a try by their lock. Jacomb nailed the conversion on full time to grab the win 29-28.
