PREMIERS vs TUKAPA
It was cloudy day with some light drizzle to add to it not ideal conditions to have the first hit out of the season but despite that the lads were pumped and ready to go. The weather certainly didn’t keep the loyal supporters away either.
Whistle blew and 2 mins in Tukapa scored the first try for the season, followed by the conversion.
21 points down Spotswood made a come back in the 29th min with some grit and determination with awesome team work Arese Poliko scored our first lot of points under the post, now this guy is someone you don’t want to mess with.
Soon those points where added to with Ethan Reti converting through the post, another player to watch out for.
5 more minutes ticked on by and yet with with some more speculator team work and some powerful leg movement and graceful footwork by Viliami Tomu drove to the corner and put some more points on the board for the team.
Halftime score 21-12 to Tukapa
Second half was a game of two halves, with the tries matching each other Tukapa scoring first followed by Spotswood , soon by Tukapa and then Spotswood.
Our 2 tries coming from the power house prop, Rikki Sofeni, This young man also has a very bright future within the club.
Ethan converting those tries
Unfortunately Tukapa got the upper hand on us with a close score of 35 - 26 at the final whistle, may not be the W but we are very happy to walk away with that and our heads held high! Still a whole lot of season ahead of us and anything is possible! Bring on the next game.
